Widgets on non-wiki site

Could the widget source code be altered so that I could create widgets on a non-wiki website, and make pages like widget:Youtube, and then incorporate the widget into a regular webpage? say index.html --George 14:16, January 30, 2009 (UTC)

Not sure if I got it right, but usually it's not required. It's most likely that widget page, already points to the widget wizard on original site - in case of YouTube, embed code is available right on the YouTube page next to each video. --Sergey Chernyshev 17:34, February 2, 2009 (UTC)

Thank you!

Sergey, thank you so much for all the work you've done with Mediawiki Widgets. They make a very big difference on mediawiki sites. I love them! --LainieH 20:18, April 8, 2010 (UTC)

local widget

I want to put widgets under my mediawki install, like under /extensions/widgets/my_widget is that possible?

No, that's not possible. Why do you think it's a better place to put them? --Sergey Chernyshev 08:14, October 1, 2010 (MDT)

New widget

i would like to create a widget page, but I fear this widget is not finished up to the standards of the widgets here, because it requires a lot of extra additions by the installer. It looks much better than the current slideshow widget though.

If an experienced programmer could make make many of these parameters easier to add:

(this is supposed to be collapsed, but your site does not have collapsed tables installed):

In general, I try to avoid publicly posting widgets that require some server changes because this is the point of extension to make it easier to install widgets and if you need files, you might as well create a separate extension for that. Still, it might work if JS files you requite to install are hosted globally by somebody, e.g. on public Google hosting or something like that. --Sergey Chernyshev 11:54, February 16, 2011 (MST)

Hi,

Can i request a widget which adds a Facebook+Twitter+Google button wherever it is invoked? There is an extension that comes very close Extension:TwitterFBLike, but it doesnt work atleast with Mediawiki 1.15 and does not have Google Plus. Such a widget would certainly be a prized one!

Thanks, Veryhuman 11:09, October 2, 2011 (AST)

I think you can combine these of multiple widgets with a template. --Sergey Chernyshev 23:51, October 2, 2011 (AST)
Thanks Sergey, thats a good idea! But I see only the +1 Button in Widgets. I dont see FB and Twitter widgets providing small buttons which can be embedded for every article. Like in the above link. Maybe I'm missing something. Do let me know. Veryhuman 23:50, October 3, 2011 (AST)
OK. I think I got it - Tweet Button, Google PlusOne and Like Button. However, the FB Like Button does not want to be in the same line as the rest as shown on this page and one my user page. Any suggestions? Thanks! Veryhuman 00:04, October 4, 2011 (AST)
